Farm Plastic Supply - Premium Straw Wattle

Farm Plastic Supply straw wattles are made with an agricultural wheat straw matrix that uses a heavy-duty polypropylene grid casing. They reduce erosion, increase filtration, and retain soil for one to two years, making them ideal for temporary protection while permanent vegetation becomes established. Our Straw Wattles come in 9" and 12" Inch Diameter and have multiple different lengths you can pick from.

Straw wattles are an excellent way to prevent sheet erosion, rills, and gullies by serving as a functional method of decelerating the velocity of water runoff in channels and slopes. They also serve to filter sediment out of water before entering storm drain inlets – especially useful in perimeter controls on lots and construction sites.

Our straw wattles are made with natural, biodegradable straw fill, and the outer netting is a ½” x ½” photodegradable polypropylene mesh. The netting is designed to break down with sunlight exposure over time (typically 12–24 months).

Our Silt Socks consist of a machine produced high-altitude Rocky Mountain Aspen excelsior matrix confined by a synthetic, tubular net to form a log of specific length, mass and diameter. Logs are designed to reduce hydraulic energy and filter sediment-laden flow in channels and on slopes. The logs are flexible, to conform to soil surfaces, and are secured by staking to create a temporary water-permeable structure. Once in place, the Logs provide fast, efficient filtration that offers superior flow interception, filtration and containment properties. They are specifically engineered to be used on slopes to minimize displacement of in-situ sediments, in channels, as small check dams, and to restrict sediment-laden flow from inlets. 100% biodegradable and custom lengths are available. In general, the logs provide better filtering of runoff waters, prevent check dam blowouts, protect water from going around check dams, prevent spread of non-native vegetation and are generally easier to handle and install than straw bales. Our Silt Socks and Erosion Control Logs have a diameter of 8 Inches and a length of 20 feet, you can buy a single one or pallet quantity which comes with 8 on a pallet.
